Since it's release on November 26th, 2025, Disney's Zootopia 2 has become the studio's highest-grossing animated film of all-time, surpassing 2019's Frozen 2. I think it's safe to say that this might be one of the most successful Disney sequels of all-time.
The story picks up right where the first one left off. Officer Judy Hopps (voiced by Once Upon A Time star Ginnifer Goodwin) is now partners with the quick-witted Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman of Ozark and Arrested Development fame). This time, they are out to prove to Chief Bogo, their colleagues at the ZPD (Zootopia Police Department), and the rest of the world that they are not just a fluke team. They have what it takes to be partners on the squad. Their partnership is put to the test when a new visitor to Zootopia has everyone on edge: a python by the name of Gary De'Snake (voiced by Academy Award winner Key Huy Quan).
With some recurring favorites from the first one (Mr. Big, Clawhauser, Gazelle, and even a return of Bellwether), along with a collection of new characters (the Ze-bros voiced by WWE Superstars Roman Reigns and CM Punk, Nibbles Maplestick the conspiracy theorist beaver voiced by Fortune Feimster, Pawbert Lynxley, a Lynx voiced by Andy Samberg, and Mayor Winddancer voiced by Patrick Warburton), this new movie will have you all rolling on the jungle floor laughing.
What I particularly love about these movies is the message. Their message of equality and how we treat people from different backgrounds is something that I think future film historians will look back on as a some of the best storytelling that any kids movie has to offer. At times, the messaging is subtle, and other times it's not, and this new film definitely doesn't shy away from these heavy topics in the slightest.
What I also love about these movies is despite the serious social message that these movies have, they still keep the humor. In fact, it might even make the jokes land better. This movie, I think, is probably even funnier than the original, with references for both young and old audiences alike.
Also, kudos to Shakira for coming out with yet another BANGER of a song (even if it sounds similar to Waka Waka).
I highly recommend this movie to all audiences.
